1 Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 The Monroe Chamber of Commerce welcomed Dino Rossi to their monthly luncheon at the Rock Church Tuesday July 10th. It was a very festive atmosphere as the runner up to the last governors race worked the crowd. Many question weather he will run again Many at this gathering of Monroe's business leaders feel that his presents in the election would help keep focus on issues that have gone by the way-side. As a former state Senate budget chairman, he faults the governor's and Democratic Legislature's budget priorities, saying, "The spending is going to produce what I believe is going to be the biggest deficit the state has ever seen."

Hops becomes a cash crop in the Tualco Valley until 1895, when pests and low prices because of the financial panic of 1893 and the advent of temperence movement cause the hop fields to be plowed under. The Snohomish-Monroe road is opened for wagon travel with John F. Stretch driving the first team and wagon to use it. |
